Hardwired PoE video doorbell, how it works?

When people choose smart video doorbell, they usually opt for the one supports Wi-Fi. There is no too many choices for some people may want a smart video doorbell supports Ethernet connection. There are many reasons why some people prefer this feature. For instance, comparing Wi-Fi connection, the Ethernet connection is stable and it can reach up to 100 meters. Additionally, Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology can be implemented in Ethernet connection to greatly simiply installation and lower the installation cost.

How it works

Since the doorbell supports 802.3af standard, users just need to run an Ethernet cable between doorbell and the PoE switch, the doorbell will work. There is no need to wire cables for power supply since the doorbell can obtain power from the Ethernet cable. The connection diagram shows below:

What if I do not have a PoE switch and want to connect it to the Wi-Fi router? Well, if you do not have a PoE switch, you still can use this doorbell, it still can work with the attached power adapter in the package box, and the doorbell can connect to your home router through Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you still can use the PoE feature by using a PoE injector. A PoE injector enables non-PoE routers/devices to use PoE technology. The diagram shows below:
